Strange Times – The mask saves lives – Part 2

Dear Team,

On Wednesday I wrote about how important it is that you wear your mask while you are working to protect you from the COVID-19 virus. A mask can give you some protection from airborne molecules that carry the virus. Studies show that aerosolized COVID-19 can hang in still air for up to three hours which means that the virus may be around long after the infected person has left.

As important, is the fact that when you wear a mask you reduce the risk of infecting someone else if you, yourself, have caught the virus and are not yet showing symptoms. Transmission of the virus is a two-way street and we need to protect you, your team mates, and your customers.

We are now requesting our customers to wear masks when they enter our stores to protect you if the customer is infected. We are making temporary, short term use, masks for our customers to use in the store if they don’t have one. We are mandating our vendors to wear masks when they make deliveries. Furthermore, we are taking the next step and are currently asking our clients, who own our stores, to allow us to mandate that anyone who comes into the store must wear a mask. We hope to have this policy in place as soon as possible.

Thank you for being responsible for supplying your own masks until we could make the fabric ones we are sending to you. They are starting to come out of the factory and we will begin shipping them to your stores today. Remember to follow the instructions on how to keep your mask clean and wash them every day.

Your safety, and the safety of your family, your team mates and your customers are our primary concern. The pandemic is going to be around for several more weeks. We cannot be complacent or let our guard down. We are in this together and will make it through together.
